CONSTRUCTION WORKERS STAND ARTHRITIS RISK Dr. Benjamin Yaw Esson, an alternate medicine practitioner at the Lord Health Care has pointed out that
construction workers have high risk of getting arthritis as compared to the non-construction workers. Speaking to the health Digest at Dome, he
said construction work or hard work puts pressure on the calcium in the bone and this also affects the joints which eventually lead to arthritis. Yaw
Esson continued that arthritis can be completely treated only if it is caused by infection. He said that menopause causes calcium lost in the women
and therefore arthritis patients in their menopausal stage cannot be completely cured. He said patients however, can rely on medication added that in
most cases such situation could be bearable. Dr. Benjamin explained that the symptoms of arthritis include severe joint pains. He said people who
were malnourished during their childhood also stand the risk of arthritis since they lack enough calcium added that alcoholism is also a contributory
factor of arthritis. He said intake of alcohol affects the liver which and subsequently affects regulation of calcium in the body.“This reduces
the density of the bones and gradually leads to arthritis. He observed that people normally replace rheumatism to arthritis. He said children
should be fed with milk and sea food to help strengthen their bones. Story by Evans Okai
