Retain active health professionals-Deputy Minister Mr Rojo Mettle-Nunoo, Deputy Minister of Health has called on the Ghana Health Service to
consider retaining active personnel who have reached the retiring age to complement quality health care delivery in the country. He said there had
been several complaints to his outfit from doctors and other health professionals who although have attained the retiring age were active and willing
to serve in all areas. Mr. Mettle-Nunoo said this when addressing the 43th annual council meeting of the Christian Health Association of Ghana
(CHAG) held in Takoradi. The council meeting which brought together over 200 delegates from missionary health institutions across the country is
under the theme: "Working with Communities to Improve Health Outcomes". He lauded CHAG for maintaining the old but active health personnel who
were contributing positively towards quality health care delivery in the country. Mr Mettle-Nunoo said the numerous uncompleted projects dotted
across the country would be completed to enhance service health care delivery. Dr Gilbert Buckle, General Secretary of GHAG called for more CHIPS
zones in communities to serve as information and treatment centre for certain communicable diseases. He said community empowerment was imperative
to enable them to provide relevant information on family health. Dr Buckle therefore called for the development of policies that would strengthen
and sustain community healthcare systems in the country.
