Sowutuom allied oil incurs debt over GHC1000 last Wednesday after the heavy rainfall that caused flood and ejected many from the rooms and killed
more live stocks in the area. The filling station which is sited at the valley part of Sowutuom where the main bridge is constructed suffered
misfortune after the rainfall. The wall around the filling station broke down and the area where the underground tanks were kept was flooded for
couple of hours. The Health Digest News gathered from the station that about 2000 litres of water had mixed with the fuel underground and the
working were working hard to get the water out of the oil. According to Mr. Sylvester Gasu, Manager of the Allied Oil filling station at Sowutuom
said that they detected the problem when some passenger cars were filled with the fuel mixed with water. He said when the problem was identified
all the cars that had been filled were made to go to the nearby fitting shop to service the engine from being destroyed. He said some the drivers
demanded their daily sales from the authorities of the station which was paid. He said by the time the Health Digest got there the company had
incurred an estimated cost of GHC1000. The flood displaced many people from the area early in the morning as many packed their personal belongings
and left the place. According to the residents the current flood has hit them very hard even though this was not the first that that they had been
confront by flood. The drainage system as seen by the Health Digest News has been blocked by concrete walls to protect the houses. It was
detected that there has not been any rainfall in the area without affecting them yet they would always try to manage it. The residents who were
equally affected, demanded that the Ga District Assembly visits the place to check those who have illegally built across the water way to evoke the
building permit to allow the running water have its natural way to go out of the place anytime it would rain. The flood pulled down many concrete
walls at the site leaving the security of the victim loose and stranded as most of their properties including cash and electronics went away. By
