The Managing Director of Agebeve Herbal Center, Mr. Abdul Wahab said this when he was interacting with Health digest News at Sowutuom.

He said that mental illness if attention is given to it at an early stage could easily be treated like the high fever, malaria and depression.

He explained further that people with mental illness should immediately be given a referrer to a psychiatric consultant to treat them adding that the Agebeve herbal center is into general practice and more specifically in chronic diseases like stroke.

He said that Agebeve herbal center is a specialized place for the treatment of stroke however the centre cannot make it a clinical duty to admit the mentally sick patients.

Mr. Wahab further called on the government to build psychiatric wing at the big hospitals and also train more psychiatric specialist so that both mental and physical illness would be treated in the same facility.

He added that the government should also assist the private clinics and hospitals with the required equipment and personnel to treat people with mental illness.

He then advised relatives of people with mental illness that they should embrace them and make them feel at home but rather they should not leave them on the street but if the problem is more than they can bare they should take the to the psychiatrist treatment.
