A veteran herbal doctor, Dr, Nana Owusu Asiamah who embarked on an intensive research work on the treatment of malaria in Ghana has come out with a fresh herbal medicine that completely blow away malaria from one's system.

Malaria has become number one killer in Africa yet with the many research organizations in the continent no effective formula had been made to combat the malaria from the continent.

In an interview with Dr. Asiamah at Santa Maria where his clinic is located, he said he left the city with his family to live at Dwuase where he spent almost 10 years in research work into malaria treatment and cure.

Dr. Asiamah as he is notably called is in his early 70s but strong and healthy as a young man in his teens said during his 10 year research work he came crossed lots of herbs that are effective in killing mosquitoes and others herbs that renders the mosquitoes infertile to produce the larvae.

These were the herbs that I used in preparing my malaria medicine which is now used by the malaria patience who come to my clinic here at Santa Maria and Konongo in the Ashanti Region."

Dr. Asiamah, after moving with his family to settle in the village acquired a large portion of land for forestation project where he planted the natural herbs that are mostly used for the preparation of herbal medicines.

He said, "Those herbalists who stay in the cities in most cases buy the herbs from the market which are of low quality.

"I don’t want to compromise with quality however, I settled in the village to have the fresh and quality herbs from my forest so that I could always have the best herbal medicine at my clinic", he stated.

He said now that bush fire has become a threat to the herbal doctors he has gotten some men who protect his forest from being burnt.

He said during his stay at Dwuase, he invested in fish farming, animal rearing and poultry which rewarded him as a best regional farmer.

According to Dr. Asiamah, malaria treatment takes ninety days with continuous medication before it is completely cured.

He said the larger population in Ghana test positive to Malaria parasite but they don’t seek treatment until they are down with the malaria.

This veteran herbalist noted that the government of Ghana has shown no interest in the herbal medicines prepared locally to treat several chronic diseases in Ghana added that the health Insurance scheme has come to improve the life of Ghanaians since many can attend hospitals for check ups on regular basis unlike the early days where a Ghanaian citizen would hardly go for check up for the fear of paying huge sums of money yet, he said "the government should continue to assist the herbal medicine industry to develop and improve the products since many people refer to the use of the herbal medicine when their sickness becomes chronic."

He appealed to the government to assist them in terms of loans to enable them extend their herbal centers with modern equipment in order to train the youth who are willing to into herbal medicine industry to produce the medicine in large quantities and in different varieties.

He then appealed to the government to set up a committee whose work would solely be on the monitoring of the various herbal centers to know what actually goes on during production and the stages the product passes through before it gets to the market.
